Climb Mount Kilimanjaro – Machame Route

The most popular and scenic route to the summit - combining breathtaking landscapes, a rewarding challenge, and a strong chance of success.
The Machame Route, often referred to as the “Whiskey Route,” is the most popular way to climb Mount Kilimanjaro - and for good reason. Known for its incredible scenery and well-paced itinerary, it offers a perfect balance of challenge, acclimatisation, and reward.
Approaching from the southern side of the mountain, the route takes you through Kilimanjaro’s full range of landscapes - from dense rainforest and moorland to alpine desert and the arctic summit at Uhuru Peak (5,895m). The trail is steeper and more physically demanding than some alternatives, but its longer duration allows for better acclimatisation and significantly improves summit success rates.
The Machame Route joins the Lemosho and Umbwe routes along the Southern Circuit before the final ascent, creating a truly diverse and unforgettable journey to the roof of Africa.
